Public Education & Outreach

Substance Use Awareness Week is underway (May 29-June 4) in Surrey, sponsored by the Substance Use Awareness Team (SUAT) that works year-round to draw attention to issues related to substance abuse and addictions. Alcohol-Drug Education Service is a charter member of SUAT and helped work its booth Sunday at the first weekend of the White Rock Farmers Market (above). More than 100 visitors stopped by for information, to pick up fact sheets, or to sign up for the annual Habit Change Challenge. Last week the team had well-attended, public exhibits at both the Central City and Guildford malls. Click here for printable versions of all the fact sheets and to learn more about Substance Use Awareness Week and the Substance Use Awareness Team.

Effective Thursday, June 11, the A-DES main phone number is 778 779-0049.
Please change your records accordingly.

It's not only teens who will find whatever is available to get high. The cause of a summer tragedy at Mill Lake in Abbotsford has been revealed, and it's a common scenario whether it's called, sniffing, huffing, bagging – whatever the latest terminology. Here's the story and more critical information about the problem of inhalant abuse.
